VARIETAL. 100% Cinsault
VINEYARD. Bechthold Vineyard, Mokelumne River—the world’s oldest Cinsault vineyard. Organically farmed.
WINEMAKING. The Bechthold Vineyard was planted in 1886 and is home to the world's oldest surviving Cinsault vines. The thick-trunked and gnarly twisted vines resemble short trees rather than grape vines. Aged in French oak barrels, 45% of which were new, to enhance the wine’s complexity and structure. This single-varietal Cinsault is a testament to its unique vineyard heritage and meticulous craftsmanship.
TASTING
Aroma: A delicate bouquet of rose petals and ripe raspberry.
Palate: Flavors of strawberry jam and mixed berry pie unfold, complemented by hints of wild blackberry and tart cranberry compote. Subtle notes of five-spice and sweet hickory cherry wood add depth, while a graham cracker pie crust and a soft oak kiss round out the profile. Balanced structure with a long, satisfying finish.
FOOD PAIRING. Pairs beautifully with grilled salmon or seared duck breast topped with a berry glaze. Herb-roasted chicken with cranberry reduction is another excellent match.
Area of Origin: Languedoc-Roussillon, Southern France.
