DescriptionMission Ranch Vineyard
Arroyo Seco, Monterey County
Though seldom seen as a single varietal, Grenache is the backbone of the great Châteauneuf-du-Pape blends, and this limited-edition release is resplendent with that classic southern Rhône ripeness. Sourced from a small vineyard located in the cool climate and rocky soils of Monterey County, this delicious “Old World” style wine was a Gold medal recipient at the recent SF Chronicle Wine Competition. Its nose reveals multi-faceted aromas of dark fruit, blood orange and grapefruit, with spicier impressions of cinnamon, licorice and a hint of peppercorn. The entry level is velvety and warm, the components on the palate are well-balanced with a tasty vein of acidity, and the complex aromatics return to grace a lengthy finish. Full-bodied, opulent and irresistible already, this impeccably balanced vintage is capable of aging through 2027. It’s the perfect pairing buddy to spiced and herbed foods including roasted meats, grilled vegetables and many ethnic foods. Old World meets New!
