Viognier (pronounced vee-on-YAY) traces its origin to the Rhône Valley of France. It is deep yellow-gold in color with very small grape clusters that produce a tremendous concentration of flavors. This small production single-vineyard vintage was tank-fermented and aged in stainless steel sur lees for 6-months to heighten its bright and creamy aspects. Evocative scents of gardenia, lemongrass and jasmine give way to a lush palate of nectarine with a subtle layer of white peach, and the finish brings just a wisp of acidity to balance the richness of the fruit. It pairs beautifully with lobster and other buttery seafood dishes, enhances the flavors of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, and can also complement smoky flavors, pungent salads and aged cheeses. Ooh la la!
